The Climb
Technique was built early and by rotation: North Oxfordshire Technical College gave Gordon Ramsey the classroom, then the kitchen line started at pot wash in a local Indian restaurant before moving through commis chef at Wroxton House Hotel, head chef at Wickham Arms, chef at Harveys in London, and chef at Le Gavroche in Mayfair, London. The work then widened beyond one house style, with Gordon Ramsey as number two at Hotel Diva in the French Alps, chef at Guy Savoy in Paris, chef at Joël Robuchon in Paris, personal chef at private yacht Idlewild in Bermuda, and head chef at La Tante Claire in Chelsea, London (from 1993), before taking the helm as head chef at Aubergine (1993–1998).
