Commercial discipline preceded the hospitality work. Training at Moscow Lomonosov State University came before Vladislav Doronin entered global commodities as an employee at Marc Rich + Co in Geneva and Zug, Switzerland (from 1985), then worked as a commodities trader in Hong Kong. That register required timing, precision, and international fluency; later, the same habits would be applied to hospitality and development rather than markets alone. Development in Moscow gave the work a real-estate base. As founder / co-founder at Capital Group in Moscow (from 1991), Doronin operated inside a changing city landscape where scale, site, and capital had to be coordinated. The platform later widened into culture through Capital Group Art Foundation (from 2009), and his entrepreneurial activity also includes his role as founder at OOO Ballini. The hospitality tenure became formal with the role of CEO at Aman Resorts (from 2014), though the brand connection began with Amanpuri in Phuket, Thailand in 1990. Aman’s working language—seclusion, calm, architecture in relation to place—became the material to preserve and test in new formats. Doronin continues in the house as owner and chairman of Aman Resorts (since 2014), and is also chairman and CEO of OKO Group (since 2020).

Aman Resorts is structured around both ownership and executive control in Doronin’s current role as owner and chairman. At Aman, he is chairman and CEO, dated 2014 to present. The distinction is practical: custodianship sets the long horizon, while the chief executive role keeps the operating decisions close. The urban work is organized around a specific translation problem: how to carry resort qualities into cities by applying the resort model vertically. The idea treats privacy, service, and spatial generosity not as resort-only conditions, but as elements that can be stacked inside a metropolitan frame. Since 2014, that has become a defining method of the Aman tenure: growth measured by fit, not volume alone. The work has included city projects, the development of a sibling brand, and an at-sea venture, each extending the Aman system while staying within its codes of control, detail, and paced expansion.

Signature

The signature properties and ventures named in Doronin’s Aman work are Aman New York, Aman Tokyo, Janu, and Project Sama. Together they mark the range of the current operating brief: urban Aman properties in major city settings, Janu as a sibling brand, and Project Sama as an at-sea venture. The through-line is expansion by format while holding to the brand’s exacting internal codes.

Recognition attached to Doronin’s work includes Certificate of Merit of the Government of Russian Federation (2010), Businessman of the Year (2010), and Decoration for contributions to the Russian Orthodox Church.
