Alexandre Gauthier, born in 1979 in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France, took over the family restaurant La Grenouillère in La Madelaine-sous-Montreuil, Pas-de-Calais, in 2003 at age 24, transforming the traditional auberge into an avant-garde gastronomic destination. La Grenouillère earned its first Michelin star in 2008 and a second in 2017, while Gauthier was named Gault & Millau Cuisinier de l'Année in 2016. His cuisine emphasizes local seasonal products, contrasts of flavors and textures, and innovation inspired by nature, following a 2011 renovation by architect Patrick Bouchain.
