The Climb
In Champagne, line experience matters. Alice Tétienne built hers across roles that each placed a different demand on the work: first marketing at Laurent-Perrier, then oenology at Centre Vinicole Nicolas Feuillatte (2014–2015), then Krug (2015–2020), where the remit expanded to oenologist, guardian of vineyard relations, and member of the tasting committee. The sequence shows a trade path that moved from house knowledge to cellar practice to tasting and vineyard oversight, with each stage adding a distinct layer to the same discipline. Since 2020, Alice Tétienne has been Cellar Master / Chef de Caves (and vineyard director) at Champagne Henriot, Reims. That role sits at the point where style is set, decisions are made, and the house voice is held together. The work asks for technical control, but also for judgment across the broader life of the estate. Her earlier time in marketing, then in oenology and vineyard relations, now reads as preparation for a position that requires both range and discipline.
Today
At Champagne Henriot, the role reaches across cellar and management functions at once. That combination means the work is not only about what happens in tank or bottle, but about keeping production and direction aligned. It is the kind of position that depends on daily attention in the cellar and wider oversight at house level. Alice Tétienne’s own language keeps the emphasis on outcome: "For me, emotion is the ultimate quest in wine." The line is plain, but it sets out a working rule. The target is not technique for its own sake; it is technique brought to a place where feeling, memory, and structure meet in the glass.
