The Path

Since 2018, the work has split between chimney sweep and winemaker, with Alphonse Carruzzo holding both roles. The combination is ordinary in the best sense: maintenance, precision, repetition, and then the slower demands of turning grapes into wine. It places his practice firmly in the register of labor, where competence is measured by consistency and by the ability to keep two trades in balance.

The Work Today

At Cave Archi - Alphonse Carruzzo in Chamoson, the present work sits inside the discipline that wine requires: watch closely, make the call, then stay accountable to what follows. For a winemaker, that means small decisions made on time and without noise. Carruzzo’s current role belongs to that tradition, with Chamoson providing the fixed ground and the cellar providing the variable one.

Signature

The signature wines point to a cellar built around named parcels, vintages, and varietal clarity. Johannisberg 2023 is the current marker. 2019 Johannisberg vieille vigne Chamoson keeps the older-vine reference intact, while 2022 Gamay Veille Vigne AOC Valais extends the range into another grape and another vintage. Together, the names map the work without embellishment: year, variety, place.

It is a straightforward piece of cellar judgment: keep the material, wait, and let fermentation do its work.
