The Path

Andrea Fazzari came up through fashion public relations at Giorgio Armani and Dolce & Gabbana, where presentation, timing, and control of image were part of the job. She then moved into film public relations at Miramax Films, carrying that same attention into a setting built around narrative and atmosphere. In New York City, that way of working found a different form at Travel + Leisure, where she became a photographer in the photo department. The shift marked a change in medium, not in discipline: the same instinct for framing people and places, now made her own. At Assouline (2019–2020), Andrea Fazzari served as author, photographer, and co-designer of SUSHI SHOKUNIN: Japan’s Culinary Masters. The book brought together editorial structure, portrait work, and design in a single project, with food as subject and image as the primary language. It is a clear example of how her practice moves across format without leaving craft behind. The title is compact, but the work behind it extends across people, places, and the precise handling of visual information.

The Work Today

Chef advisor is one of the roles Andrea Fazzari now holds, alongside partner at Sushi Yoshitake NY in New York and Itai Komuten in Tokyo. Those positions sit close to the worlds she photographs: hospitality, service, and culinary craft. Her work continues to orbit portraiture, travel, and the culinary world, moving between the intimate and the geographic without changing register. Andrea Fazzari has said.
