The Path
Andrew Fried’s early record sits in production, where pace, coordination, and editorial judgment are tested before they are visible on screen. After training at Emory University, he moved through associate producer and producer credits on Fade to Black (2004), Iconoclasts, Black and White: A Portrait of Sean Combs (2006), Britney: For the Record (2008), The Rocket Project (2010), The Oprah Winfrey Oscar Special (2010), and The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet (2012). He also served as creative director at Webby Awards (2011–2015), a role that points to the same control of presentation and tone that marks the rest of his work. The work broadens across documentary formats without losing its center of gravity. Fried’s credits move through culture, performance, food, sport, and personal reinvention: producer at Iconoclasts; executive producer and director at Chef's Table (2015–2017); director at Chef's Table: France (2016); producer at In Fashion (from 2017); executive producer at Far From Home (2018), BookTube (2019), Action, Cheer (2020), The Goop Lab (2020), Parenting Without Borders (from 2020), Home Game (2020), Street Food: Latin America (2020), Last Chance U (2020), and Untitled Bubba Wallace docuseries (from 2021); and director at We Are Freestyle Love Supreme (2020) and The One in November (2021). Boardwalk Pictures Inc. has been the long-running base for that range, with its emphasis on polished, character-led nonfiction. Andrew Fried founded Boardwalk Pictures Inc. in 2010 and continues there as president, while also serving as executive producer of 7 Days Out (since 2018). The body of work is built around close observation and clean construction: projects that can hold both a public-facing scale and the smaller details that give a documentary series its weight.
