Service-side wine work formed the base of Bernard Sun’s early career. As sommelier at Restaurant Lespinasse, St. Regis Hotel - New York City (1994–1998), he worked within the rules of fine-dining pacing and table-side guidance. He continued as sommelier at Le Cirque 2000 (1999–2000), then moved to Chef Sommelier at Montrachet Restaurant, Myriad Restaurant Group (2000–2004), where the title signaled a broader scope of responsibility and oversight. Each role extended the same core skill set: reading the room, managing the bottle list, and keeping service exact. Corporate beverage direction defined the next and most visible stretch of Bernard Sun’s résumé. As Corporate Beverage Director at JEAN-GEORGES MANAGEMENT (2005–2014), he was positioned between hospitality operations, purchasing, and the identity of a restaurant group whose beverage programs had to stay disciplined. In the same period, Bernard Sun also served as spokesperson for Burgundy Wine Region, chosen by the BIVB at Sopexa USA (2006–2008), adding a public-facing assignment tied to a specific wine region and its standards of representation. Portfolio work followed. Bernard Sun became Brand Director, French Portfolio at Kobrand Corporation (2015), moving his experience from restaurant operations into brand and portfolio strategy. He is also CEO of Soleil Restaurant and Wine Consulting (since 2014) and Luxury Accounts Manager of Kobrand Corporation (since 2015), roles that keep him in commercial beverage work and consulting at a senior level.
