i. Biography
István Pesti is the executive chef of the two-Michelin-starred Platán Gourmet in Tata, Hungary, the first rural Hungarian restaurant to earn two stars in November 2022. Born in Budapest, he graduated from Gundel Károly Vendéglátóipari és Idegenforgalmi Technikum and advanced Hungarian cuisine through head chef roles at Cosmo (1997-98 onward), Babel (Michelin-starred), and Tanti (later Platán Restaurant & Café, taken over in 2015). He also oversees the Michelin-recommended Platán Bisztró as part of the Platán complex.
