i. Biography
Luc Planty is a Bordeaux-based wine professional who served as directeur général of Château Guiraud in Sauternes before leaving that role in 2022. In April 2024, he and Clémence Planty acquired Château de Malle in Preignac, a historic grand cru classé property in the Sauternais, and the estate states he comes from a lineage of viticulturists dating back to 1641. Contemporary coverage also describes him as having trained in Pessac-Léognan and Sauternes before taking the technical direction of Château Guiraud in 2019, succeeding his father, Xavier Planty.
