The Path

At Jordan Vineyard & Winery in Healdsburg, Rob Davis built a career by staying with the work long enough to know its contours. University of California at Davis (1976) gave him the technical base; Jordan Vineyard & Winery in Alexander Valley, Sonoma County (1976–2019) gave that training a long run in practice, where he served as winemaker. The line is straightforward: school, cellar, estate, and a career shaped by the slow discipline of wine.

The Work Today

Since 2019, Davis has served as winegrower at Jordan Vineyard & Winery in Healdsburg, a title that shifts the focus from cellar decisions to vineyard decisions without changing the center of the work. The earlier years were spent as winemaker; the current role extends that same attention into the growing season, where the estate’s long memory and the year’s changes shape the daily work. At Jordan, the move from winemaker to winegrower reads as continuity in another register. The clearest thread in Davis’s career is duration. UC Davis led to Jordan; Jordan led from winemaking into winegrowing; and the work has remained tied to one Healdsburg address. That kind of consistency is itself a craft position, built over decades in the same place.

Signature

Rob’s signature wines include Jordan Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon, Jordan Chardonnay, and 2015 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Together, they show the range of his work at Jordan Vineyard & Winery, from Cabernet’s structure and depth to the more restrained profile of Chardonnay, with 2015 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon marking one specific release within that body of work.
