Portrait of Alberto Facco
i. Biography
At Poggio Levante in Cinigiano, Italy, winemaking is carried through the pace of vineyard, cellar, and season. Alberto Facco’s work there is defined by scale and attention: wines made with a close read of fruit, site, and bottle, so the finished wines stay tied to the land that produced them. The estate’s intent is practical rather than rhetorical, with each decision serving the identity of the place. Today Vermentino, Sangiovese, and a Sangiovese-based red vermouth form the core of the current work at the estate, placing grape and territory in direct conversation. Within that frame, Facco brings a Venetian spirit to a Tuscan setting, giving the wines a distinct inflection while keeping the emphasis on clarity and precision. Since 2018, when the Poggio Levante project took shape, the guiding aim has remained the same: niche production, quality over volume, and a measured approach to what grape and terroir can say together.

Signature
Unnè, Ovvìa, and Sergio are the signature wines in the Poggio Levante portfolio. Together, they mark the estate’s focus on specificity and limited production, with each name standing as part of a broader effort to keep the work deliberate, distinct, and closely tied to origin.
In Their Words “Since 2018 we started the Poggio Levante project, which combines the Tuscan territory with Venetian spirit to create wines with modern and distinctive traits.” “Our goal is a niche production, in which the search for the highest quality and expression of the grape/terroir pairing is our guiding star.”
Acclaim
The project’s measure is the same across the range: quality, restraint, and a clear expression of grape and place.
