i. Biography
The Climb
Military service came first: Aldo Conterno was a soldier with the U.S. Army in Korea from 1954 to 1956. Back in Italy, he became co-responsible for the Giacomo Conterno estate in Monforte d'Alba, Piemonte, from 1961 to 1969, working inside an established Barolo house before setting out on his own. In 1969, he founded Poderi Aldo Conterno in Monforte d'Alba, Piemonte, and remained founder and winemaker until 2012.
