The Climb

Craft training began at University of California, Davis, where Aldo Vacca picked up the technical base that has long defined the school’s reputation. He then worked as an assistant at Angelo Gaja, a formative post that put him inside the disciplined pace of fine wine and the standards that govern it. By 1998, he had become director at Produttori del Barbaresco, a position that tied his name to one of Barbaresco’s most enduring houses.

Today

Continuity is the operating principle. At Produttori del Barbaresco, the work has been about holding line, not chasing change, and about keeping identity clear. Produttori del Barbaresco has never changed its style. That consistency gives Aldo Vacca’s role its force: the wines read through place, grape, and method, carried forward with restraint and control.

Signature

Aldo's signature wines include Asili and Ovello. Both sit within the house’s cru expression, where nuance matters and the differences between vineyards are allowed to remain distinct. In that sense, the signature is not merely personal; it is collaborative, emerging from a long conversation between the producer and the terrain that surrounds it.

Recognition follows the wines most closely tied to the house’s cru identity. In Aldo Vacca’s case, it is the steadiness of that identity—its patience, its consistency, its refusal to drift from the core—that keeps the wines in view and brings attention back to them.
