Where They Are Now

The winemaker’s seat at Apothic Wines is where Ricchio still works, with a direct view of what the team means by innovation. Her own framing is plain: “While tradition is important, innovation is even more important to us as a team.” The line gets at the operating logic of the house—one that keeps its reference points in place while still making room for new expression in the glass. Lineage matters here as much as technique. Ricchio points to Deb as the person who shaped her early understanding of the trade, and she names that influence without softening it into sentiment: “I am so lucky I had the opportunity to learn everything I know from Deb. I feel fortunate to continue the legacy she started.” That is the work of winemaking in its clearest form—knowledge passed forward, then carried into the next vintage.
