The Making
Luxury hospitality at group level is built on operating discipline, service consistency, property sense and the ability to work across owners, teams and markets. Bernold Schroeder’s formation includes Cornell University and the Stanford University-National University of Singapore, grounding his later work in both hospitality management and international business practice. Brand stewardship in Asia requires commercial control and operational calibration across competitive city and resort markets. In 2013, Bernold took on the role of CEO at Pan Pacific Hotels Group in Singapore, where the work centered on strategy, brand position and organizational performance in the international hotel sector. In 2017, that operating brief moved to Europe when he joined the luxury hotel company as Vice Chairman of the Management Board and chief operating officer for Europe, a role concerned with the service standards, market complexity and property-level execution of luxury hospitality across the continent. Luxury hotel leadership at board level is a craft of capital, culture, owners, architecture, service and people held in one operating frame. By 2020, Bernold had become chairman of the Management Board of Kempinski AG and Chief Executive Officer of Kempinski Group. His work also extends to MINPER Hotels, where he serves as CEO and Managing Partner.
The Work Today
The work today is the management of a luxury hospitality system rather than a single property: standards, people development, operational excellence and stakeholder alignment have to travel across markets without flattening the character of individual hotels. At the group, Bernold Schroeder’s leadership is described through that blend of operating focus and talent development, with tradition and innovation treated as parts of the same service discipline. Stakeholder management is a practical skill in luxury hotels, where owners, boards, teams and guests all shape the final standard. Bernold’s approach places people inside the operating model, with organizational development used to support the level of service expected from the brand. The emphasis is not only on the physical setting, but on the teams that make those settings function as hospitality.
Credentials
Recognition in this field often comes from the ability to build durable partnerships across owners, operators and markets. Bernold Schroeder has been recognized for high-performance partnerships across the global hospitality industry, with work tied to history, architecture, first-class quality and timeless European elegance in the revival of properties. The standard being pursued is luxury hospitality with continuity: properties that respect their architectural and historical context while operating at a contemporary service level. Bernold’s work at Kempinski is framed by that balance of organizational leadership, property revival and brand discipline.
