The Path

Wine production is the thread running through Bruno Colomer’s training and early posts: Polytechnic University of Catalonia and the University of Burgundy in Lyon, France gave him the technical base, while Mont Ferrant in 1996 put that learning into cellar practice. From there, the work moved into management of process and consistency at Heretat Mas Tinell in Penedès as technical director, before Codorníu brought him into a larger house system in 2008 as chief winemaker. Across those stages, the same craft concerns stay in view: reading a vintage, holding quality steady, and shaping character without losing control.

The Work Today

At Codorníu in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, the job since 2008 has been less about headline gestures than about keeping the cellar aligned from year to year. Bruno Colomer frames that work in terms of continuity: “We have to control the future and the quality of the future.” The line points to a winemaking practice built on decisions that carry forward, where each harvest is measured against what came before and what needs to hold. His other formulation is just as direct: “One way to control the future is to know the past.” In that exchange between memory and adjustment, his approach becomes clear, and so does his emphasis on repetition as a craft tool: “Style, style, style, style. That is at our heart.”
