Apprenticeship and training in France and Italy gave Christian Reiterer a working base in two of Europe’s most demanding culinary traditions. The value of that early training lies in the discipline it built: attention, patience, and rigor. Different kitchens, different rhythms, and different standards left him with a professional method that is international in scope and exacting in execution, before his craft found its clearest expression at the winery.

Where They Are Now

At the winery, Schilcher Frizzante and Schilcher sparkling wine remain the center of the brief. Reiterer puts the tone in three words — “Pleasure, elegance, joie de vivre” — and uses them as a frame for the work from vineyard to glass. The vineyards sit at the core of that approach: “Our vineyards are the treasure of our business and the basis for high quality,” he says. That position is tied to a broader standard of care, reflected in his view that “Respectful and careful treatment of nature and its resources has therefore always been a matter of course at the Reiterer Winery.” The result is a winery focused on balance, lightness, and the grape itself.

Christian's signature dishes include Schilcher-Rosé Frizzante, Schilcher-Rosé Sekt, Schilcher Frizzante, and Schilcher sparkling wine. Read together, they show a style built on brightness, grape character, and precision, with each cuvée expressing the same idea through a slightly different format.
