The Climb

Kecskemét College is the only school, and it marks the formal base of the craft. From there, Csaba Vesztergombi moved into the longer work of building a winery identity, founding Vesztergombi Winery in 1991 and keeping it tied to his own hand ever since.

Today

The central blend is defined plainly: “The flagship wine of our cellar, a typical Bordeaux blend with more or less equal proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.” That direct language fits the wine’s standing, since Csaba Vesztergombi’s flagship has won two gold medals and holds the estate’s clearest recognition. The rest of the range is built by named bottlings rather than broad claims. Vesztergombi Kerékhegy Shiraz 2017 sits alongside Csaba Cuvée and Vesztergombi Kadarka, giving the cellar a defined Bordeaux-style core, a Kadarka with ageing potential, and a Shiraz carrying the Kerékhegy site and the 2017 vintage into the line-up.
