The Path
Southern technique sits at the center of Darnell Reed’s work, and the line from trade training to hotel kitchens is clear. Washburne Trade School gave him the foundation; Hilton Worldwide placed him in the discipline of hospitality; Conrad Chicago sharpened that practice until 2015, when the demands of a large, polished kitchen became part of his working language. Since 2015, ownership has defined the next stage of the work. At Luella's Southern Kitchen, Darnell Reed moved from running kitchens inside larger operations to shaping a restaurant around his own point of view.
