The Path

At Château Kefraya in Kafraya, Lebanon, the technical director and enologist role has been Fabrice Guiberteau’s since 2006, and that length of service matters more than any flourish. The work is built on continuity: cellar decisions, vineyard reading, and the slow maintenance of a house style over time. Behind that steadiness sits a Charente-Maritime family lineage of six generations of winemakers, which gives Guiberteau a background in the trade that is inherited as much as it is practiced.

The Work Today

As oenologist and technical director since 2006, Fabrice Guiberteau works at the point where origin has to be translated into finished wine without losing its footing. His stated aim is explicit: "I want to make wines that express their origin. I don’t want to copy a Bordeaux or Burgundy wine, for example. It’s very important that our wines show this singularity: that they’re truly coming from Château Kefraya." That is a working rule, not a slogan. The task is to keep the wines tied to their place, and to resist borrowed accents that would blur the estate’s own character.
