i. Biography
Garima Arora is an India-born chef-owner of Gaa, a modern Indian restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand, which she opened in 2017 and which earned its first Michelin star in 2018, making her the first Indian woman to receive the accolade. Gaa secured a second Michelin star in 2024, establishing it as only the second Indian restaurant globally with two stars and Arora as the first female Indian chef to lead one. Previously a journalist in Mumbai, she trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and worked with chefs including René Redzepi at Noma and Gaggan Anand in Bangkok.
