Today

Since 2023, the Director of Wine role at Bacchus Wine Auctions has also carried the title of Consignment Director of Fine Wine. James Lloyd describes the post as covering “many facets” that are “amazing and very rewarding,” a plain account of a job that asks for range as well as control. The work sits further from the pace of restaurant service, but it still depends on the same habits that define good sommellerie: attention to detail, consistency, and the ability to move between the specific and the bigger picture without losing either. For an artisan built in service, this is wine work from another angle, not another discipline.
