Training at Cuesta College and Sonoma State University (2005) gave Joe Webb the technical base for a career that moved quickly into cellar work, where theory had to meet vintage pace. From 2005–2007, he worked at Joseph Swan Vineyards as assistant winemaker, direct sales manager, and all-around winery hand, a mix of duties that shows early fluency across production and the daily mechanics of running a winery. That range became part of the shape of his work: technical, operational, and built from repetition as much as from study. Since 2006, Foursight Wines has had Joe Webb as co-founder and winemaker, while his current roles also include winemaker and all-around winery and business guru of Londer Vineyards and president of Anderson Valley Winegrowers Association. Taken together, those posts point to a practice that extends beyond the cellar into regional coordination and the larger work of making a wine district function.

Where They Are Now

At Foursight Wines in Boonville, California, the house style is carried by wild yeast and wild malolactic fermentation across the lineup. For the Pinot Noirs, partial whole cluster fermentation and a no-finings, no-filtration approach keep the wines textural and direct, with the estate’s choices visible in the glass. The same discipline carries into the white wines, where rarity and restraint frame the work. Speaking about Sémillon in Anderson Valley, Webb has said, “We are one of only a couple of vineyards growing sémillon in Anderson Valley, so the variety is rare here to start.” He added, “Combine that with native yeast fermentation — as we do with all our wines — in a blend of French oak and stainless steel, then bottling completely unfined and unfiltered, it’s an unusual white.” The point is clear: the grape is uncommon here, and the cellar decisions are made to keep it that way. Webb has also described the region as one in motion. On the changing face of the appellation, he has said, “There has been a big generational shift as the appellation's founding wineries have retired and sold or passed down their businesses. Now, winery owners and winemaking teams are younger.”

The wines most closely named with Webb show a broad but controlled range, moving between precision, perfume, and texture while staying tied to place. Foursight’s 2019 Charles Vineyard, Anderson Valley Sémillon was described as bright and airy, with beautiful acidity and a crisp finish, a profile that fits the wine’s restrained frame. The 2015 Charles Vineyard Pinot Noir was noted for wild strawberry and cranberry, with Christmas spices and ginger, a combination that points to lift and detail without losing structure. The 2011 Vin Gris of Pinot Noir adds another register, showing Pinot Noir handled differently from the estate reds and widening the range Webb has helped shape at Foursight Wines.
