Josean Alija is a Spanish chef who leads Nerua Guggenheim Bilbao, the restaurant inside the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. The museum’s official materials say he took charge of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao restaurant in 1997 and was awarded Best Young Chef in 2000; Michelin describes him as formerly of elBulli and notes that he runs the one-Michelin-starred Nerua Guggenheim Bilbao. His cooking is characterized by research-driven work on ingredients and a style built around aroma, beauty, texture, and flavor.
