Career Matías Cruzat has served as Chief Winemaker for the Castillo de Molina and 1865 brands at Viña San Pedro in Curicó since 2013, a post that keeps him working at the level of brand definition as much as cellar execution. The brief is focused: 1865 Single Vineyard and Castillo de Molina sit at the center of the work, and the standard is consistency, season after season. “My whole life has revolved around wine,” he says, which is as direct a statement of professional scope as the job itself. The path into that work runs through formal study and two wine cultures. Matías Cruzat trained at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and continued at Bordeaux Sciences Agro and Université de Bordeaux, building an education that pairs Chilean rigor with French instruction. That foundation matters in winemaking because it trains the eye for precision, patience, and the reading of vineyards as changing sites rather than fixed assets. Since 2013, he has held chief winemaking responsibility for the Castillo de Molina and 1865 brands within VSPT Wine Group / Viña San Pedro. Alongside that role, he founded Hellowine and Bon Vivant, extending his work beyond cellar operations into ventures still rooted in wine.
