Michel Rolland

Michel Rolland was a French Bordeaux-based oenologist and wine consultant born in Libourne, France, who grew up at his family’s Château Le Bon Pasteur in Pomerol. He studied viticulture and oenology at La Tour Blanche and the University of Bordeaux, graduated in the early 1970s, and later co-founded a Bordeaux laboratory/consultancy that expanded into international work for more than 150 wineries across four continents. He became widely known as the creator of the modern “flying winemaker” model and advised major estates in Bordeaux, Napa Valley, Italy, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, India, and beyond.
