The Climb

Hospitality study at Cornell University gave Mitchell Davis a base in the discipline and polish that later carried into editorial and event work. The throughline is not scale for its own sake but control of detail: a willingness to move between back-of-house rigor and public-facing presentation without losing the thread of the work. In 2015–2015, Chief Creative Officer at USA Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015 placed Davis inside a large international platform where coordination and composure mattered as much as ideas. In 2019–2019, host at James Beard Foundation annual gala at The Pierre, The Pierre kept him in ceremonial territory, where the job is as much about timing, presence, and judgment as it is about the room itself.

Today

Kitchen Sense, LLC is the current vehicle for that same method: founder and principal Mitchell Davis works from a point of view shaped by exacting standards and broad curiosity. Jewish food remains his specialty, and he describes his approach without ornament: “I’m an obsessive kind of person and I work on getting something right.” Experimentation sits alongside that discipline. Hosting at The Pierre in 2019 put Mitchell Davis in a prominent public setting, where the work depended on steadiness and control more than display. The emphasis remains on the work itself, and on doing it properly.
