Coming Up
Bartending as a craft is built in layers: schoolwork, floor work, and the repetition that turns service into muscle memory. Nathan Greene trained at Crescent School of Gaming and Bartending, then worked behind the bar as a bartender, where pace and pressure would have been part of the daily lesson. By 2010, that experience had moved him into the role of bar manager at Vanguard Lounge in Las Vegas, a position that demands technical control and the steadiness to keep service moving. He later served as lead barman at rm seafood in Las Vegas, carrying the same bar-side discipline into a room where drink service and dining-room timing had to stay aligned. The bar, in Greene’s case, reads as both workstation and operating system: precision at the rail, poise under pressure, and enough rhythm to make the service feel seamless. Since 2012, Nathan Greene has been co-founder of Libation Restoration, extending that working knowledge into a venture shaped by years of service, repetition, and the mechanics of hospitality.
Where They Are Now
At Thaihey NOLA — Thaihey Thaifood in Baton Rouge, the work is framed through co-foundership and partnership, with Nathan Greene and Orawin 'Nim' Yimchalam Greene building the operation together. In hospitality, that kind of shared responsibility is part craft, part coordination: timing, communication, and the ability to hold a room together with consistency.
Honors
Competition work tests a bartender in public: speed, balance, concept, and the ability to keep form when the room is watching. Nathan Greene’s record includes Campari "Best Aperitivo" Cocktail Competition — third place in Las Vegas round (2012), a placement that puts him in the top tier of that field. In the same year, he earned second place in the Ketel One Mix Off — Las Vegas (2012), and he also took part in the Ketel One Iron Bar Chef competition (2011), a format that signals pressure and improvisation as part of the brief. His range also shows up in Imbibe's Cocktail Cover Contest — Top 25 finalist (2011), where presentation and concept carry weight, and in the Appleton Reserve Remixology Competition — San Francisco finals (2011), which brought the work to a national stage. Earlier, he appeared in Star of the Bar competition (2010), another marker of a career already built around performance, discipline, and the demands of working in front of an audience. Taken together, these results show a bartender who has repeatedly entered competitive service environments and held his place there. The common thread is not just drink making, but fluency in hospitality as a working language, applied across bars, restaurants, and competition formats alike.
