He moved to Paso Robles in 2003 to raise his kids and help build the winery, after finding a property with a grape vineyard and a nearby cemetery. The setting was unusual, even stark, but it gave the family what they were looking for: a place in the country, room to grow, and a life tied to the land. “We were just looking for a place in the country to raise our kids.”

Since 2005, Rob Campbell-Taylor has filled the unglamorous jobs that keep Graveyard Vineyards moving. The list has included owner, vineyard worker, grape and wine hauler, and fixer, alongside his day work as a Mechanical Engineer. It is a split between engineering discipline and the physical routine of vines, harvests, trucks, and repairs.
Where They Are Now
Since moving to Paso Robles in 2003, Campbell-Taylor has spent most of his time away from engineering helping Paula build the winery. The work has changed with the need: tending rows as a vineyard worker, moving product as a grape and wine hauler, and stepping in as a fixer when something broke or needed attention. That kind of labor rarely gets named, but it gives a place its structure.
