i. Biography
Salomé Alemán received the title of Maestra del Ron Cubano, the first woman ever to hold Cuba's master-rum-maker designation. She works for Havana Club, moving between the warehouses, laboratory and blending areas and overseeing fermentation, distillation, barrel selection, ageing, blending and bottling. In her own words: 'It isn't a science learned from books, but a craft passed from heart to heart, from Cuban to Cuban.'
