The Climb

Charles Sturt University gave Stuart Pym the technical base, but the shape of the career came later, in the regional cellar. He entered winemaking at Voyager Estate in 1991, then moved on to Devil's Lair and later Stella Bella, where he stayed until 2013. Each stop added another practical read on fruit, season, and site. By the time he came to Flowstone Wines in 2013, the work had already taught him how to stay with a place over time.

Today

At Flowstone Wines, Stuart Pym holds both winemaker and owner, which means the decisions reach beyond the cellar door and into the identity of the label itself. His own view keeps the focus on Margaret River as a working region rather than a backdrop: “We firmly believe our future success is closely linked to the Margaret River region and our commitment to crafting the finest wines possible from its valuable and limited vineyard resources.” It is a plain statement of method: use what the region gives, and do not overreach it.

Signature

Pym’s signature wines include Flowstone, Moonmilk by Flowstone, Queen of the Earth, 2025 Flowstone Sauvignon Blanc, and 2024 Flowstone Chardonnay. Together, they map the range of the Flowstone label across different expressions while keeping the house name in clear view.

Recognition

The line of recognition in Stuart Pym’s career is the line of progression itself: Voyager Estate in 1991, Stella Bella through 2013, and the move into ownership at Flowstone Wines. Those markers point to a winemaker whose standing comes from continuity, judgment, and years spent learning the region from the inside.
