i. Biography
Suzette Gresham, born in 1955 in California, is the Executive Chef and co-owner of Acquerello in San Francisco, which has held two Michelin stars since 2014, with the first awarded in 2007. She opened Acquerello in 1989 with partner Giancarlo Paterlini after working as chef at the Donatello Hotel in San Francisco starting in 1988, pioneering as one of few female chefs leading a two-star kitchen in the US. Gresham was the first female chef's apprentice on the U.S. Culinary Olympic Team in 1980 and won a bronze medal as an individual competitor in 1984; she also launched 1760 in 2013 (closed 2020) and Sorella in 2021.
