Tan Ying Hsien

Tan Ying Hsien is Singapore’s first Master of Wine and serves as wine consultant at Saint Pierre in Singapore, where he oversees the restaurant’s wine programme, curates a list of more than 2,300 bottles, and trains the floor team through blind tastings and thematic tutorials. He began studying wine while pursuing law in the United Kingdom in 1983, worked as a corporate and banking lawyer for more than 20 years, and later switched careers to become a wine journalist, speaker, and educator before qualifying as Master of Wine in 2015. Saint Pierre identifies him as the restaurant’s wine consultant and notes that his selections are used to complement Chef Emmanuel Stroobant’s French cuisine with an Asian accent.
