At Robert Mondavi Winery in California, Tim Mondavi served as chief winemaker from 1974–2004, a long span that gave his approach room to take shape in Napa Valley. The role placed him in sustained contact with the demands of consistency, patience, and attention to place. Opus One followed as another winemaking chapter, and since 2005 he has been winemaker of Continuum Estate, where the estate’s style continues to reflect both continuity and change.

Where They Are Now

It’s a culmination of all that has come before, it is our dream come true, and it’s a work in progress. That line describes a working estate, not a fixed monument. In Tim Mondavi’s hands, Helena stands as the point where the experience of Robert Mondavi Winery, the perspective of Opus One, and the ongoing work at Continuum Estate meet. The site is both result and process, with each season adding to a body of knowledge that remains active rather than settled.

Signature

Tim's signature wines include Continuum 2023, Novicium, Sentium, and Continuum. Taken together, they mark the range of his practice at Continuum Estate: the current release Continuum 2023, the named wines Novicium and Sentium, and Continuum itself, the bottle most closely tied to the estate’s identity. The set reflects a career built around consistency of purpose.
