Tyson Cole is the chef and co-owner behind Uchi, the Austin Japanese restaurant he opened in 2003 in a refurbished South Austin house, and its sister concept Uchiko. Uchi’s official site describes him as a James Beard Award–winner, and Southern Smoke says he opened Uchi as Executive Chef and co-owner to bring the intimacy of the sushi bar to every table.
