Valentino Marcattilii

Valentino Marcattilii began working at San Domenico in Imola at age 16 as Nino Bergese’s assistant and later took over the kitchen after Bergese’s death. He became executive chef at the San Domenico restaurant in Imola and also co-owner, and in June 1988 he led the kitchen when San Domenico opened its New York location at 240 Central Park South. He is associated with the restaurant’s two-Michelin-star status and has been described as a key figure in the modernization of Italian cuisine.
