Today

At Bonvivant in Berlin, bartending is the point where pace, attention, and restraint have to hold together. Yvonne Rahm works in that pressure with a measured register, and her own words make plain the conditions of the job: “Kollegen ist mein Geschlecht meist egal. Das Problem sind die Gäste, die einen als Frau nicht ernst nehmen.” The line is direct, and it frames service as a trade that still asks for composure in the face of scrutiny. The same practicality runs through her view of drinking from inside the profession. “Mein Vorsatz für das letzte Jahr war „mehr trinken und unvernünftiger sein.“ Hat ganz gut geklappt. Aber ich kenne mein Suchtpotential und achte deswegen auf meine Grenzen.” What comes through is not performance around excess, but an artisan’s sense of limit—knowing the culture, knowing the risk, and keeping the line clear.
