The decision to stay close to the wine has shaped Eric Miller, owner and winemaker at Kokomo Winery in Healdsburg, since 2004. He works in Dry Creek Valley with Purdue University behind him, not as a decorative credential, but as the base he credits for turning classroom training into a life at the bench. Kokomo is the place where that practice has held its line: small production, named bottlings, and a winemaker whose role still joins ownership to cellar work.

Eric Miller ties his signature most clearly to origin. The portfolio associated with him includes Boilermaker Blend wines, Pauline's Vineyard Dry Creek Valley zendel, and estate zendel from Timber Crest Vineyards, all of which keep the maker's hand close to specific names rather than anonymous scale. His own account of the work keeps returning to Purdue, and to the confidence to build a winery around direct contact with the fruit, the bottle, and the person tasting it. At Kokomo, that makes the lineage unusually plain: university training, entrepreneurial nerve, and daily time in the winery he built.

The program at Kokomo rests on still red wine, with Zinfandel carrying much of the house identity. Pinot Noir, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Sauvignon Blanc also sit within the range, but the Dry Creek Valley frame matters most when the wines point back to named sites and bottlings. Miller's signature wines do not ask the drinker to look past origin. They put Pauline's Vineyard, Timber Crest Vineyards, and the Boilermaker name directly on the label, then let the cellar work follow that choice.

Small production changes the rhythm of a winery. It favors fewer lots, closer decisions, and a tasting room where the person pouring can speak with some proximity to what happened in the cellar. The method published to the drinker is not a technical sheet of ferments and vessels. It is a set of vineyard and bottling names, carried from cellar to glass.

Friendly service is part of the house texture, but the stronger note is ease. Kokomo's hospitality does not separate the visitor from the craft with ceremony; it keeps the tasting close to the cellar's scale.
