At Companhia de Vinhos dos Profetas e dos Villões, António Maçanita works within the Madeiran islands with a scale of attention that starts at the plot level. On Porto Santo and Madeira, the local term “fazenda” names the small parcels he is working with, and in this case those plots are right on the sand. The language is precise because the work is precise: the land is not abstracted into romance, but described in the terms it actually uses.
