Bernard L. Herman

Bernard L. Herman was a professor emeritus and scholar of American material culture, folklore, architecture, and foodways, with appointments at the University of Delaware beginning in 1977 and later at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His work included influential books on vernacular architecture and southern foodways, including Architecture and Rural Life in Central Delaware 1700-1900, The Stolen House, Town House, and A South You Never Ate. He died on December 30, 2024.
