Candace Nelson

Training at Groton School and Wesleyan University gave Candace Nelson a foundation in structure and pacing that shows up later in her work with brands. Before moving into food, she worked as an investment banker, then shifted into a more hands-on practice as owner of a custom cake business in San Francisco. That move from finance to cake work tracks a useful trade lesson: taste, when it is disciplined, can be made legible as a business.

In 2005, co-founding Sprinkles Cupcakes in Beverly Hills, California (2005–2012) put Candace Nelson inside a format built on consistency, recognition, and a very specific brand language. The company connected confectionery technique with retail identity, and made her name part of a wider conversation about how dessert businesses are built and remembered. She later appeared as judge at Next Level Baker (2025), extending that same evaluative eye into the screen format.

Co-founding Pizzana in Southern California and Texas keeps Candace Nelson working in the same lane: building concepts that are as much about position and repeatability as they are about flavor. Her on-camera roles at Cupcake Wars and Sugar Rush, along with co-creating and executive producing Best in Dough, place her in formats where product, presentation, and pacing all have to hold up under public scrutiny. The work across kitchens, media, and publishing points to a clear commercial instinct: taste alone is not the end point, but the starting material for a brand.

That approach carries through to her authorship, where Candace's status as a New York Times Best Seller adds another form of recognition to a career built around shaping ideas into something market-ready and durable.
