The Climb
Training at Groton School and Wesleyan University gave Candace Nelson a foundation in structure and pacing that shows up later in her work with brands. Before moving into food, she worked as an investment banker, then shifted into a more hands-on practice as owner of a custom cake business in San Francisco. That move from finance to cake work tracks a useful trade lesson: taste, when it is disciplined, can be made legible as a business. In 2005, co-founding Sprinkles Cupcakes in Beverly Hills, California (2005–2012) put Candace Nelson inside a format built on consistency, recognition, and a very specific brand language.
