That period reads as the slow accumulation of judgment: watching closely, learning how vineyard and cellar speak to each other, and building a method around observation rather than display. Since 2000, he has been owner/winemaker of Podere Giodo, and since 2012 he has also served as winemaker of Alberelli di Giodo, with both roles extending the same standard of control across two estates.

Today

At Alberelli di Giodo since 2012, the focus is Nerello Mascalese in the named Sicilia DOC and Etna Rosso DOC bottlings. The grape sits at the center of the work, setting the wines’ structure and definition rather than acting as a supporting detail. In Ferrini’s hands, that focus gives the estate a profile that is clear, taut, and firmly tied to Etna.

Signature

Carlo's signature wines include Alberelli di Giodo Carricante, Alberelli di Giodo Nerello Mascalese Sicilia DOC 2020, and Alberelli di Giodo Etna Rosso DOC. Taken together, they show a style that favors articulation over ornament, keeping grape character and terrain visible in the glass. The range moves from Carricante’s bright profile to the deeper register of Nerello Mascalese, then to the Etna Rosso DOC bottling that grounds the estate’s volcanic language.
