Carlos Frías

Carlos Frías is Deputy Editor for Investigations & Storytelling at USA TODAY. A Miami native and bilingual journalist, he was food editor at the Miami Herald, where he won the James Beard Foundation’s 2018 Local Impact award and the 2022 Jonathan Gold Local Voice Award and shared in the newsroom’s 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News. He is the author of the memoir Take Me With You: A Secret Search for Family in a Forbidden Cuba, published by Simon & Schuster. He previously hosted Sundial, an arts-and-culture program on WLRN, and reported for The Palm Beach Post and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
