i. Biography
The Climb
Estate continuity in the Palatinate is a working structure before it is a family claim: at Weingut Hammel in Kirchheim, Palatinate, Germany, Christoph Hammel took his place early as the eighth-generation winery operator, extending a line measured through vineyard work, cellar decisions, and the daily mechanics of keeping an estate in production.
Today
Winery operation joins cellar responsibility with estate stewardship. In Christoph Hammel’s case, the work covers the wine in bottle and the task of carrying an old family estate into a market that still has room for directness, value, and personality. Rosé in this range is handled with a deliberately defined frame. Hammel & Cie The one who dances with rosé dry is described as an exceptionally powerful and intense rosé made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Regent, and Cabernet Dorsa, with 3.5 days of maceration and aging partly in stainless steel and partly in oak barrels.
Signature
Christoph's signature dishes include Hammel & Cie The one who dances with rosé dry, »New Chicks on the Block Diamond Edition«, STAYING ALIVE RIESLING 2022, and Liebfraumilch Spritz.
Recognition
Christoph's honors include Tasting 2024: 89+ points for 2023 »New Chicks on the Block Diamond Edition« (2024) and Falstaff Bewertung 2023: Gold, 91 points for Hammel & Cie The one who dances with rosé dry (2023).
