Kosta Browne Winery in Sebastopol, California was founded in 1997 by Dan Kosta, and that starting point set the terms for a career built through entrepreneurship and a clear sense of place. The year marks the shift from first effort to sustained practice, when one barrel became a longer discipline with California wine. Since 2022, Dan has been founder of Convene, carrying that same builder’s drive into a new chapter. The common thread is direct: make, refine, and stay close to what the bottle can say when it is given time and care.

Where They Are Now

Founder and proprietor is the role Dan Kosta holds today at AldenAlli Winery. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay remain the named anchors across his career, with wines made for drinkers rather than abstraction. The work reads as practical and open-handed: bottles meant to be opened, poured, and met in the glass instead of held at a distance. DK Wine Group is another company founded by Kosta, and its stated aim is plain: "I want to be part of the wine industry that gets non-drinkers to drink wine." The line puts accessibility beside ambition and frames the work as larger than labels or releases alone. The goal is not only to make wine, but to widen the circle around it.

Dan's signature wines include 2009 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, Convene Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, and Admire Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Sonoma Coast appears as the steady point of reference, with Pinot Noir as the form that has continued to organize the work.
