i. Biography
On the Ligurian Riviera, at Cà du Ferrà Wine & Tasting in Bonassola, Italy, owner Davide Zoppi works among vines shaped by light, wind, and sea. The material is Native Ligurian fruit, the method is meticulous handwork, and the larger task is the recovery of a fragile coast through bottles that carry its salt air and steep terrain.
The Estate
Zoppi owns Cà du Ferrà Wine & Tasting and works as winemaker for Cà du Ferrà in Bonassola, where the estate joins certified organic viticulture with wine tourism built around vineyard visits and tastings. Its work is tied to recovering and preserving the fragile territory of the Ligurian Riviera and the Cinque Terre, not as scenery but as the condition that shapes the farming. The path back to the vine ran through law school. After graduating, Zoppi chose viticulture at the family land, following the route his parents had loved in Bonassola; in 2013, he decided against a career in environmental law and returned to Liguria to work with grapes rather than statutes. He and Giuseppe Luciano Aieta moved from Milan to Bonassola to enter and transform the family winery.
In the Cellar
The central work is the revival of lost grapes of Liguria, including Ruzzeze, alongside the care of Native Ligurian varieties: Vermentino, Albarola, Bosco, Black Vermentino, Bosca, Ciliegiolo, Merlot, Picabon, Rossese Bianco, Ruzzese, Sangiovese, and Syrah. In the glass, his wines are described as whites and rosés of incredible depth, weight, and precision. That precision begins in viticulture described as deeply rooted in defending a unique and fragile territory, with passionate and extremely precise work. The bottles are presented as the result of careful choices and handwork intended to express the light, wind, and sea of the Ligurian Riviera.
The Bottlings
Ruzzese 2020 “Diciassettemaggio” gave the estate one of its sharpest markers: in 2025, the Winemag Top 100 Guide awarded it Best Italian Sweet Wine with a score of 97/100. The same guide named Cà du Ferrà Best Italian Winery in 2025. Another release, Zero tolleranza per il silenzio, was born from the rediscovery of Ruzzese, extending the estate’s work with a grape nearly lost from the Ligurian conversation. Luccicante Colline di Levanto DOC received 93 points at the Concorso Enologico Internazionale “Vermentino,” placing another native-white expression in focus. Recognition continued with Gambero Rosso Vini d’Italia 2026, which named the estate Young Producers of the Year. Across those awards, the through-line is not a single grape alone, but a disciplined return to land, family memory, and Ligurian varieties grown under organic viticulture in Bonassola.
