The Work Today
Winemaking here is built on self-taught study as much as on inheritance. Edvard Reya worked independently before stepping fully into the family legacy, and that route shows in the work: measured, practical, and grounded in direct reading of vineyard and cellar. In 2006, after the death of his father Emeran Reya, he took over the family winery, and continuity became part of the brief. The estate now sits under the direction of a winemaker and vineyard owner whose authority comes across as steady rather than theatrical. Edvard Reya carries both sides of the job — vineyard and winery — with the same discipline, understanding that each season has to hold its place in a longer run of work.
