Émile-Justin Menier

Émile-Justin Menier (1826–1881) was a French pharmaceutical manufacturer, chocolatier, and politician born in Paris. After inheriting his father Antoine Brutus Menier’s company in 1853, he shifted the business from medicinal powders to chocolate, later making it France’s largest chocolate manufacturer and acquiring cocoa estates in Nicaragua. He also served as mayor of Noisiel and as deputy for Meaux, and was made an Officer of the Legion of Honor in 1878.
