The Climb

The shape of this career is accumulation without drift. Court of Master Sommeliers training came before a run of roles that kept widening the field while staying anchored in wine. At Alexanders Steakhouse, where Eric Entrikin served as Wine Director from 2005 to 2011, the work sat at the point where technical knowledge has to hold up under service pressure; the list had to function in the room, not just on paper. Education and consultation sharpened the translator’s side of the job. Eric Entrikin served as Adjunct Instructor at International Culinary Center from 2011 to 2016, and as Wine Educator and consultant at The French Culinary Institute from 2011 to 2019. Those posts point to the same craft from a different angle: not managing wine alone, but explaining its structures, context, and uses to others working in the trade. The range of institutions also shows a career comfortable moving between formats without losing its wine focus. Leadership returned in a larger operational frame when he served as director of Wine Education at Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits from 2016 to 2018. The title makes the emphasis clear: teaching was not ancillary to the work, but central to it. A later role as Brand Ambassador at Germain-Robin California Brandy from 2019 to 2020 extended that fluency into another spirits category, while keeping the same requirements of precision, credibility, and communication. Today, Eric is Wine Director of Left Bank Group.

He is Wine Director at Left Bank Group. In his own words, Eric Entrikin put the move in plain terms: “I made the jump myself, and am currently the Wine Director for the Left Bank Group, consisting of three Brasserie restaurants and two Steakhouses.” The quote places the role inside a restaurant group with five properties — three Brasserie restaurants and two Steakhouses — and keeps the emphasis on scope, not ornament. What follows from that statement is a career that has been built by moving between service, instruction, and leadership without separating them into different disciplines. The cellar, the classroom, consulting, and Wine Education all sit in the same line of work here, with each role adding a different kind of operating knowledge to the next.
